🏥 Doctor

Doctor is the hospital half of the medical department. Where EMS is out on the street picking people up, Doctors work the building: surgery, imaging, consults, and the walk-ins who turn up under their own steam.

It is also the rank the hospital's automatic system checks against. With two or more Doctors on duty, anyone checking in at the front desk gets pinged through to you instead of being auto-treated. Being clocked on visibly changes how the hospital behaves for everyone in it.

Applying

Doctor uses the same Medical Staff Application as EMS, on the Applications page. You will be told in Discord whether you are accepted or denied.

Ranks and pay

You are off duty by default. Paychecks land in your bank every 15 minutes while you are clocked on.

GradeRankPaycheck
0Medical Intern$6,000
1Junior Resident$7,000
2Senior Resident$8,000
3Chief Resident$9,000
4Attending Physician$9,500
5Medical Director$10,000

Attending Physician and Medical Director hold the boss menu, which sits inside Pillbox and in the offices at Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay.

Every revive pays $1,000 on top, and costs you a defibrillator. Patching someone up short of a revive costs a bandage. The patient is billed $2,000, waived for police, EMS and other medical staff.

The building

Pillbox is built out properly, so use it. Beyond the ward beds there are two surgical suites, an MRI room, an X-ray room, private rooms, consultation offices and a treatment room. Rooms are the difference between "you have been revived" and an actual scene.

There is a second full hospital at St. Fiacre, plus Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay for county cover.

Roleplay expectations

The mechanics of treating someone take a few seconds. Everything that makes the job worth playing is what you put around them: taking a history, explaining what you are doing, giving bad news properly, following up on a case a week later. Take people into a room instead of fixing them in the corridor.

You are also the department's expert witness. Forensics work, cause of death, fitness evaluations and court testimony all run through Doctors.
