đŸŽ¯ Game Modes

Three modes are in the queue right now. Every one of them starts you on the Pistol Mk II with no armor, so a match is decided on aim and positioning rather than on who grabbed the better gun.

Team Deathmatch

Two teams, 2 to 12 players. First team to 50 kills wins. If nobody gets there inside the 10 minute limit, the team ahead on kills takes it. You respawn 3 seconds after you die, and friendly fire is off.

Elimination

Two teams, 2 to 12 players. No respawns, so the last team standing wins the round. It is a best of seven, so the first team to four round wins takes the match. Each round has a 2 minute limit and friendly fire is off.

Free-for-All Deathmatch

No teams, 2 to 8 players, everyone for themselves. First to 30 kills wins, or whoever is ahead when the 5 minute limit runs out. Instant respawns, and friendly fire is on for the obvious reason that there are no friends.

Maps and loadouts

Matchmade games pick the map for you. In a custom lobby the host chooses the map and the weapon preset, so the pistols-only default is not the only way to play: Full Loadout, Pistols Only, SMG + Shotgun, Sniper and Rifles Only are all selectable there.

Fourteen maps are in the pool at launch. How many players a map holds is part of its design, so the smaller ones are the tighter fights.

HoldsMaps
Up to 12Arena Town, Cape Catfish, Chamberlain Hills, Concrete, El Burro Heights, Forest, Rancho Projects, Shipment, Vespucci Beachfront
Up to 10Farmyard, Ramps
Up to 8Block, Escape Duel, Killhouse

Time of day and weather are set per match rather than fixed to a map, so the same place can come up in clear daylight, at sunset, in fog or in the rain.

Ranked

Team Deathmatch and Elimination can be played ranked. Free-for-All is unranked only.

Ranked does not open up the moment you arrive: you play a number of unranked matches first, and the game tells you how many you have left. Once it is open, matchmaking looks for opponents near your rating instead of taking whoever queued first, and the penalties for dodging a ready check or abandoning a match start applying. See the FAQ for how rating works.
